I have the honour to enclose copies of letters

th May 1902, which we have received from the Governments of Hong Kong and

June 1902. Trinidad on the subject of the return of the investments

required by the Financial Instructions issued to the various

Colonial Governments.

2. We pointed out in our letter of the 6th June (Sey-

chelles) that the column in the return requiring the market

value of the investments was involving us in a considerable

amount of work, which could equally well be carried out in

the Colonies and we suggested that we should be authorised to

send to each Colony on the last day of each year a copy of

the Stock and Share list which is published by the Stock

Exchange at the price of 6d.

3. This suggestion I beg to repeat and we should be

glad if we could be furnished with the Secretary of State's

Instructions in the matter at an early date.
